We at The Auto Gallery pride ourselves in offering the best factory-trained service personnel in the United States. Porsche has always maintained the highest standards for their services technicians and we proudly have the highest number of Goldmeister mechanics in the country.
To understand the Goldmeister certification, an overview of the Porsche service training program is essential. Porsche Technicians and Shop Foreman achieve their quarterly certification by studying and mastering technician-specific topics based on servicing and maintenance of Porsche vehicles. The educational process is made up if year-round technical instruction and each mechanic is required to complete at least 16 credits per year. The level of challenge is high, as would be expected with the Porsche brand: the passing grade is 80 percent, questions are deeply technical in scope while still being practical and quarterly participation year-round is required.
Entry level mechanics must be employed by a certified dealer for at least 12 months while apprenticing with a Bronze, Silver or Goldmeister technician before moving to a qualified technician status and must maintain certification through the Porsche academy. As credits are earned through the Porsche training program, each technician builds his standing in the dealer network through hands-on experience and classroom study. Expert status is upgraded to Bronze Meister after 5 years as a Porsche technician as well as 60 credits in the training program. The next stage requires 100 or more training credits and over 5 years of hands-on dealer service to achieve Silver Meister Status.
The final level of achievement is Porsche Goldmeister Technician with 150 technical credits, ASE certification and 5-10 years total Porsche tenure. We are proud to have such an esteemed Porsche service staff with so many who have achieved the Goldmeister standing. This includes James Potempa who began his Porsche career in 1979 with Merlin/Olsen, continued during the Ogner years and has been a Goldmeister Technician since 1991. Vance Specht has been a Goldmeister since November 2009 and John Szamosi has been a Goldmeister since 2004.
