Think Texas is only about the Alamo and oil? Well, think again. Texas is home to some of the best theme parks that the country has to offer. Two of these exciting parks are Six Flags Fiesta Texas and SeaWorld San Antonio, both of which are located minutes from the famed San Antonio Riverwalk.
If you enjoy twists, turns, flips and drops, then Six Flags Fiesta Texas is the place for you. With five different areas in the park, there are attractions for people of all ages. If you like adventure, come enjoy one of Six Flags’ nine roller coasters including the brand new Goliath! Goliath climbs 10 stories, reaches speeds up to 50 mph and simulates the sensation of weightlessness as you race through loops and corkscrews.
If the buzz of a rollercoaster isn’t your idea of fun, there are lots of other attractions for the whole family. Six Flags Fiesta Texas is aimed at providing fun for everyone. There are family rides located throughout the park including the famous Crow’s Nest Ferris Wheel that gives you a bird’s-eye view of the entire park.
The month of October is a favorite of guys and ghouls when Fright Fest takes the park over each night! Six Flags Fiesta Texas is turned into a Halloween funhouse Saturday, Sundays and select Fridays during the month to celebrate Halloween. With hair-raising shows, trick-or-treating for the kids and your favorite monsters walking the streets of the park, a scream is right around the corner!
If you need a break from the pace of Six Flags Fiesta Texas, take a short drive to SeaWorld San Antonio and help celebrate its 20th anniversary in the great state of Texas. SeaWorld San Antonio is the world’s largest marine-life park. Some of the marine life at SeaWorld is featured at daily shows such as “Believe,” the park’s Orca whale showcase and the Cannery Row Caper, which stars the park’s sea lions, walruses and otters.
Head over to the bird sanctuary where you can see pink flamingos, ducks, geese and many other birds of the Americas. If you want more of a hands-on experience, check out Dolphin Cove where guests can interact with popular bottlenose dolphins. Guests can purchase fish to feed these beautiful creatures.
SeaWorld isn’t short on kicks either with five heart-racing rides scattered throughout the park. Enjoy The Great White and Steel Eel, two of the best roller coasters in all of Texas. SeaWorld San Antonio also holds one of the most unique rides in the world, Journey to Atlantis, which is part roller coaster, part water ride. Board a 16-passenger boat and take the 100-foot climb into a turntable that will twist and turn you until you finally make the backward plunge into the lake below.
If you are looking for fun and excitement in the Lone Star State, make your way to San Antonio. Come and experience two of the best theme parks around.
