Welcome to the 2009-2010 School Year

This newsletter is the first of many for this school year. If you are new to our mailing list, you can expect to find articles and links related to after-school programming, technology workshops & training, STEM programs and opportunities, professional development, and technology events, contests, scholarships & competitions.

TechBoston is a unit within the Boston Public Schools' Office of Instructional & Information Technology (OIIT) department that supports advanced technology courses in the district's schools. TechBoston's mission is to inspire Boston Public School students by providing access to cutting edge technology resources and opportunities that positively advance their academic and career aspirations.

Our after-school program, TechBoston Consulting Group, will begin on Tuesday, October 20th at Burke High School. The weekly sessions will run for 10 weeks in the fall on Tuesdays from 2:30-5 PM in Burke's library. This program will provide interested BPS high school students with an opportunity to learn about a wide array of advanced technology topics (podcasting, blogging, video production, photography).

For tech-savvy students who already have strong skills, there are also several opportunities for them to earn money on paid projects working as student consultants. We are especially looking for students who are skilled in logo design, WordPress, web development, Flash animation, and technical support.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Eric by email at eesteves@techboston.org or by phone at (617) 908-1565.

Burke is located at 60 Washington Street in Dorchester (Grove Hall). Please note the weekly sessions that used to happen at Madison Park on Wednesdays will not take place this year.
