Supporting The United Nations Global Compact
As a signatory to the United Nations Global Compact (UNGC) since 2006, Symantec encourages companies to adopt the UNGC’s ten principles to protect human rights, uphold ethical labor conditions, preserve the environment, and combat corruption.
We have taken a leadership role in promoting the Global Compact, becoming a key coordinator for the United States Network of the UNGC and participating in the UNGC Anti-Corruption Working Group. In FY11, we participated in its LEAD initiative, a new platform for corporate sustainability leadership. We have committed to implementing the Blueprint for Corporate Sustainability Leadership and to sharing results and ideas with other companies throughout the Global Compact Local Networks.
Symantec is also committed to the rights and empowerment of women worldwide in accordance with the United Nations Millennium Development Goals. We support these rights as a founding signatory of the United Nations Women's Empowerment Principles (WEP).
