Common Sense Media (Common Sense) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to improving the media and entertainment lives of kids and families. Their programs include the Common Sense Schools Parent Media Education Program, which is designed to engage and educate parents about their children's media lives.
The Symantec Foundation recently awarded Common Sense a $100,000 grant to (1) help researchers identify the opportunities and challenges of expanding this program globally, (2) provide a blueprint for international expansion, and (3) help Common Sense develop materials with a focus on piracy and copyright issues facing children and youth today.
According to Common Sense founder and CEO Jim Steyer, “Digital media reaches children on a consistent, daily basis. The support Common Sense receives from Symantec and other strategic partners is critical in terms of helping our organization to identify new media issues and address these needs as effectively as possible.”
