Governor’s Supporters Out in Force at Stanford Event On March 14th
Santa Clara County Republicans enjoyed a unique opportunity to show their support for Governor Schwarzenegger. MSNBC brought Chris Matthews’ Hardball show to the Stanford University campus for a live show featuring our governor. While several hundred guests were invited to be part of the studio audience, many more showed up outside the auditorium to express their thoughts.

The Governor’s Reform Agenda: Redistricting
Governor Schwarzenegger inherited a state that was $22 billion in debt, on the verge of bankruptcy with businesses fleeing the state. After outlining reforms in his January 5, 2005, State of the State speech, the governor gave the Democrats in the state legislature 55 days to act on these reforms or he would go to the people.

Public Employee Union Dues
Currently, public employee labor unions require their members to pay dues that are then used to support candidates and issues of the labor union leaders’ choosing. This initiative prohibits public employee labor organizations from using dues or fees for political contributions unless the employee provides prior consent each year on a specified written form.

Jane Howard Selected for County Board of Education
The Santa Clara County Board of Education is the elected governing body of the Santa Clara County Office of Education (COE). Its seven members serve four-year terms and are elected from different regions of the county.
