Ford Motor Company’s Ford Warriors in Pink® program is launching a new campaign, “Models of Courage,” that will highlight the stories of breast cancer survivors.
Ford created the Ford Warriors in Pink program specifically to raise awareness, and money, for the fight against breast cancer. This most recent campaign will feature the stories of 11 men and women, highlighting their strength and courage while providing inspiration to others. Ford hopes that these “Models of Courage” will prompt others around the country to join in the fight against breast cancer.

“The Ford Warriors in Pink campaign recognizes the strength and courage it takes to deal with the daily challenges of fighting breast cancer,” stated Tracy Magee, Ford’s primary brand experiential manager. “We are so thrilled to highlight these inspirational women and men as our Models of Courage. We hope their personal stories and experiences with breast cancer will help raise awareness and serve to inspire those on the front lines battling breast cancer.”
The Models of Courage will appear nationally as models for the 2012 line of Warriors in Pink wear and gear. This collection of apparel and accessories is created for women, men and kids, featuring symbols that convey the message of hope, strength and unity in battling the disease. Supporters can check out the collection at www.fordcares.com. All proceeds will go directly to the fight against breast cancer. Supporters can also learn more about each individual Model of Courage and about the campaign as a whole on the Ford Warriors in Pink Facebook page.
This year’s campaign features a new opportunity for shoppers to choose which breast cancer charity they want to support with their purchases. The four charities are:
Susan G. Komen for the Cure® –The Komen promise is to save lives and end breast cancer forever by empowering people, ensuring quality of care for all and energizing science to find the cures.
Dr. Susan Love Research Foundation (DSLRF) – With more than 365,000 grassroots volunteers from around the nation, the Dr. Susan Love Research Foundation conducts, funds and fast tracks research to not only cure breast cancer, but also understand what causes it and how to prevent it.
The Pink Fund – The Pink fund provides financial aid in the form of direct bill payment on behalf of breast cancer patients in active treatment. Many patients are unable to work during treatment, while others lose their jobs. With mounting bills and either no income or severely limited income, they quickly find themselves in dire financial distress. The Pink Fund provides real help in making ends meet.
Young Survival Coalition (YSC) –The Young Survival Coalition improves the lives of thousands of young women with breast cancer directly. One in eight women diagnosed with breast cancer is younger than 45 years old. YSC provides free resources and programs to support, educate and empower these women.
Ford Warriors in Pink is also giving breast cancer supporters the chance to win a 2013 Warriors in Pink Ford Escape; the 2013 Escape is the most fuel-efficient SUV, with two available EcoBoost engines, hands-free technology, an eco-friendly interior and custom, Warriors in Pink styling featuring inspirational symbols from the campaign.
Over the last 18 years, Ford has raised more than $115 million to help with the fight against breast cancer. In addition to raising money, the Ford is dedicated to making a difference every day of the year by educating and encouraging women about the benefits of early detection and regular visits with their doctors.
