The Scion xB is a five-passengerurban utility vehicle unlike anything else on the road today. With its distinctive boxy design, the xB has been a favorite of drivers and auto enthusiasts alike, providing good fuel economy, plenty of space and, best of all, a stellar safety record.
Every 2012 Scion xB (MSRP $16,300) comes standard with the Star Safety System
™, an all-encompassing group of safety features including Vehicle Stability Control (VSC), Traction Control (TRAC), Anti-Lock Braking System with Brake Assist and Electronic Brake-Force Distribution, and Smart Stop Technology. VSC reduces engine power and applies brake force to the necessary wheels to help prevent wheel slippage; TRAC helps maintain traction on any surface. The braking system components work in tandem so you can stop when you need to and do so more effectively.
Also standard on the xB is a Tire Pressure Monitoring System, rear headrests and an airbag system that includes dual stage airbags for driver and front passengers, front and rear side-curtain airbags and front seat-mounted side airbags. A first-aid kit is also included.
Inside, steering wheel-mounted audio controls and standard Bluetooth technology enable you to spend less time fumbling with your devices and more time focusing on the road. Power in the xB is provided by a 2.4-liter engine that produces 158 hp through a four-speed automatic transmission. Drivers can expect up to 28 mpg on the highway.
With best-possible “Good” ratings in frontal offset, side impact and roof strength tests, the 2012 Scion xB was named a “Top Safety Pick” by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety. Steve St. Angelo, executive vice president of Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing North America, Inc., said, “Safety is a core value that dates back to the foundation of our company. IIHS’ awards further recognize our commitment to helping protect drivers and passengers.”
