What Does ASE Certified Mean?
Stevinson Chevrolet's technicians proudly have this designation.
by Eliot Cox, Stevinson Chevrolet Service Manager

To become ASE (Automotive Service Excellence) certified, one must pass at least one ASE exam and have at least two years of verified work experience.  The tests, developed by auto industry experts and overseen by ASE's own professionals, are administered by ACT, known for its academic and occupational testing programs.

The ASE exams are not fundamental or a core exam - approximately one out of three test takers fail.  Another reason ASE certification is so well respected in the auto industry and requires care and dedication is because a certified auto technician must take the test every five years to maintain certification which brings out the best auto technicians in their field.  ASE certified auto technicians have the motivation and pride to take the tests to prove their own technical competence to themselves, their employers, and their customers.  Because ASE certification is mostly voluntary, it separates sub-standard auto technicians from quality technicians who are self-motivated to seek out the certification that places them above the rest.

What does all of this mean to you?

There's no denying that motorists will benefit from auto technicians that are ASE certified.  At Stevinson Chevrolet, every technician is ASE Certified and some even have ASE Master certifications in multiple areas.  By becoming an ASE certified professional, our technicians show their customers they care and are committed to quality and customer loyalty. Vehicle purchases are the second biggest investment we make after our homes, so take your vehicle to a Stevinson Chevrolet ASE certified professional and you'll get the best possible service and a long healthy life for your car.
