Upcoming Video Game Releases to Know About
Gamers have a lot to look forward to throughout the rest of 2017

Although 2017 may be rapidly approaching its conclusion, the remainder of the year still has plenty in store for gamers. With the holidays just around the corner, many video game developers wait until the end of the year to release some of the biggest titles in their ever-expanding library. This year has already been huge for the industry, so you can imagine just how highly anticipated many of these titles are.

“Super Mario Odyssey”

Few video game characters are more famous than Nintendo’s mascot: Mario. For decades, the Italian plumber has been rescuing Princess Peach and thwarting Bowser’s plans throughout a wide range of diverse games. Still, “Super Mario Odyssey,” set to be released on Oct. 27 for Nintendo Switch, might be his most unique adventure yet. Mario’s landmark debut on the new console takes him to a number of different worlds, from an arid desert to a realistic city and everywhere in between. Along the way, Mario will rely upon an unexpected ally: his hat. Mario’s iconic cap will serve as a brand-new gameplay mechanic during the game.

“Assassin’s Creed Origins”

“Assassin’s Creed” is one of the most highly-regarded video game franchises of all time. But how did the conflict between the Assassins and the Templars, the main narrative of the series, begin? That’s precisely what “Assassin’s Creed Origins” plans to explain. Set in Ancient Egypt, players will assume the role of Bayek, one of the forerunners to the Assassins featured throughout the rest of the games. As with any “Assassin’s Creed” game, several historic figures will also play a role. Some of history’s most influential leaders, like Julius Caesar and Cleopatra, are slated to make appearances during the story. Grab the newest game in the series on Oct. 27 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Windows.

“Call of Duty: WWII”

Speaking of historical games, the “Call of Duty” series is returning to its roots on Nov. 3 with its latest release: “Call of Duty: WWII.” After a series of futuristic first-person shooters, the franchise will once again be set during one of the largest conflicts the world has ever experienced. “Call of Duty” is really working to simulate the dire consequences that war produces. Unlike previous games where health regenerates, players must instead rely upon fellow soldiers to provide them with a limited supply of medical kits. Multiplayer continues to be a major component of the “Call of Duty” franchise with the release of “Call of Duty: WWII.” The infamous and ever-popular “Zombie Mode” is also scheduled to be featured in the game, which will be available for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Windows.

“Star Wars: Battlefront II”

“Star Wars” is undeniably one of the most popular movie franchises of all time. It’s filled with exciting space battles and cinematic fights. For those wishing to fully immerse themselves in the “Star Wars” story, no game is better suited for the job than “Star Wars: Battlefront II,” which will be released on Nov. 17 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Windows. The sequel to the 2015 game “Star Wars: Battlefront,” places players right in the middle of some of their favorite conflicts from a galaxy far, far away. Several of the most famous “Star Wars” characters will be playable, from old favorites like Yoda to new characters like Kylo Ren. Fans are also excited about the prospect of the game’s single-player story campaign, an aspect that the previous title was lacking.

As the holiday season approaches, you might want to add these exciting new video game titles to your shopping list or wish list.
