CBS College’s show goes on-air before CBS Sports takes over for game coverage, and both setups require sets, power, and plenty of paraphernalia to make the show look good. In a cost-saving cooperation between the partner networks, Filmwerks International came up with a solution to support the production and power of both shows with just one truck.

HuskerVision Taps Panasonic P2 for Large-Screen Production
HuskerVision, the video production unit of the University of Nebraska Athletic Department, recently upgraded its HD video production capabilities with the addition of Panasonic HD Studio cameras and P2 HD camcorders. The equipment roster includes four Panasonic AK-HC931B HD studio cameras, two AK-HC1500G 2/3-inch multi-format 1080i/720p HD multi-purpose cameras, as well as five AJ-HPX2000, two AG-HPX300, and two AG-HPX170 P2 HD camcorders.

University of West Georgia Wolves Howl on Daktronics Video Boards
The University of West Georgia opened the doors to its brand-new University Stadium Wolves football facility in Carrollton, GA, complete with a state-of-the-art video and scoring system designed, manufactured, and installed by Daktronics. The Daktronics LED video display measures approximately 13 feet high by 22 feet wide, and it can operate as one display showing a single large image or be divided into multiple zones.

ACC Wants Intimacy of Philips Arena for 2012 Basketball Tourney

The ACC basketball tournament will feel a bit cozier the next time it's in Atlanta. ACC athletic directors have decided to hold the tournament in Philips Arena rather than the Georgia Dome in 2012. The ACC tournament has been held at the Georgia Dome twice –- to great success in 2001, when each session averaged 36,505 fans, and significantly less so last March, when attendance fell to 26,352 per session.

Athletic Directors Recommending NCAA Cost Cuts

CAA Announces Extensive Basketball Television Package

New Championships Bid Process to Begin

The NCAA is introducing a streamlined process for all championship bids in all divisions beginning with the next bid cycle. The request for bids, excluding those for the Division I Men’s and Women’s Basketball Championships, the Division I Baseball Championship and the Division I Football Championship, will begin with general and sport-specific bid requirements becoming available on the NCAA Web site December 15.

Creighton Strikes Deal to Play at Omaha Stadium

Creighton University has reached an agreement to play its home baseball games at a new downtown ballpark beginning in 2011. The university struck a deal Tuesday with the Metropolitan Entertainment and Convention Authority to play at TD Ameritrade Park. The MECA board approved a 10-year lease. As part of the deal, the Bluejays will play some home games in 2011 and all of their home games at the Omaha stadium in 2012.
