Academics, Athletics Combine to Put TCU Programming on The Mtn.

TCU’s sports-broadcasting curriculum will not be acknowledged as a full-fledged major until 2010, but students in the university’s sports-broadcasting courses are already getting plenty of real-world experience. The 20 students in the program will fulfill all of the production roles for three volleyball telecasts that will air this fall on The Mtn.—Mountain West Sports Network. Through this new partnership, TCU students will produce up to 18 live broadcasts for the network this spring, including women’s basketball, baseball, and soccer games, and the network hopes to get more schools’ broadcasting departments into the game, as well.

ESPNU’s Campus Connection Puts South Carolina Seniors to Work

This week, ESPNU rolled into the University of South Carolina and put 15 seniors to work producing a women’s volleyball telecast for the network. The network added an extra camera to the setup and had the students take up nearly every position on the docket, ranging from cable-puller to play-by-play announcer. The experience—which aired live on ESPNU Wednesday night—turned out to be just as rewarding for the ESPNU executives as it was for the students.

Penn State President Graham Spanier Shares His Expert Opinion

CBS College Sports Network Salutes Armed Forces

CBS College Sports Network to Broadcast a Pair of Atlantic Hockey Contests

CBS College Sports Network will air two Atlantic Hockey Association, games this season and has been confirmed by Atlantic Hockey Commissioner Robert DeGregorio. On Friday, January 8, UConn will travel to Colorado to take on Air Force at the Cadet Ice Arena with game time set for 8:00 pm ET. The second match-up will feature Army taking on Mercyhurst at the Mercyhurst Ice Center on Friday, February 19, also at 8:00 pm ET.

ESPN Radio, WEEI Team Up
ESPN Radio reached an agreement with the top-rated sports-radio station in New England, as the WEEI Sports Radio Network will begin syndicating ESPN Radio’s overnight programming and select weekend programming Nov. 2. The pact also covers live play-by-play of events including the Major League Baseball playoffs; the National Basketball Association and NBA playoffs; and the College Bowl Championship Series, including the 2010 BCS National Championship Game in January.
