Tom Moses, president of Spill Center, is an environmental attorney and former toxicologist with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. He is considered a leading authority on environmental regulations and compliance issues in the transportation industry.
Frequently invited to speak before industry groups, he recently discussed negotiating strategies for reimbursing emergency response agencies at the Railroad Environmental Conference 2000, (University of Illinois). He is a regular speaker at the annual Inland Spills Conference (Columbus, Ohio). And he was invited to participate on a committee to recommend changes in Colorado legislation on emergency services reimbursement. Over the past three years, he has served with a diverse task group of industry and government representatives formed to propose revisions in the DOT’s hazmat incident reporting criteria and to rework the F5800.1 form.
Mr. Moses holds a certificate in Hazardous Materials Control and Emergency Response from Georgia Institute of Technology and is a member of the American Chemical Society, American Association for the Advancement of Science, and the Environmental Law Institute.
He founded Spill Center in 1990 with the belief that no transporter will ever have enough spills to get good at managing them single-handedly. Under his guidance, Spill Center has developed highly efficient systems for contingency planning, spill response, documentation and reporting to help transporters contain costs and limit liabilities following accidents with environmental releases.
