Between the signing of the sales contract and the installation of the equipment, someone has to plan how a project will be implemented. Overseeing that crew at SOS is Keith Cosick, Director of Project Management.
“We go through and provide the assessment, basically a validation process for time and materials, a detailed analysis of the solution,” says Cosick, who joined the company in February of 2007.
Cosick’s goal is to make sure the process remains consistent from project to project. The framework was already in place when he came on board, he says, so now it’s a matter of making sure each member of the SOS team has absorbed the process.
"It’s great to have Keith join us," says Gia McNutt, CEO. "He has superb management skills, infectious enthusiasm, and tough-as-nails discipline."
The Grass Valley native has a good background for overseeing how technology is implemented. He spent a decade with Intel Corp., most recently as a global account manager, and before that as the channel integration manager for Intel Online Services.
While he says he appreciates the highly disciplined, results-oriented style of the main Intel organization, the Online Services job gave Cosick a taste of what it’s like to work for a more nimble group.
That set him looking for a role where he could have a more direct contribution to the bottom line, he says. A longtime friend who worked at SOS asked if Cosick might be interested in a job there, and it turned out to be a good match.
Cosick got an extra benefit from his new job: his round-trip commute shrank from 46 miles to six. IT is a second career from Cosick, who earned a degree in Social Science from Butte Community College and went to work in corporate investigations, detecting fraud and embezzlement at retailers.
But the avid video gamer and self-taught “tech-head” had always had an interest in the computer industry. Intel offered the kind of job stability he was looking for at the time, and within a few years he had made fast progress up the job ladder.
At home, Cosick likes to tinker with technology of a different sort: hot rods. He’s had a series of sports cars over the years, his current favorite being a Corvette with 550 horsepower under the hood. But his biggest interests at home are his two children, ages 7 and 3.
