MTV Movie Awards Preview
A look at what's to come.

If you’re looking for an awards show that transcends the bland and boring, the 2012 "MTV Movie Awards" promises some wackiness and fun as well as large doses of unpredictability. Airing live from the Gibson Amphitheatre in Universal City, Calif., on June 3 at 9 p.m., the show is a telecast featuring MTV viewers’ favorite stars, films and music.

The 2012 show
Like other years, the engaging award categories combine the usual (Best Movie and Best Performance), with edgier honors like Best Villain, Best Kiss, Best Fight, Best Jaw Dropping Moment, Best Scared-As-S**T Performance and Biggest Badass Star. The nominees are determined by producers and executives, and online voting by the public on MTV’s official website (www.movieawards.mtv.com) picks the winners. The preshow publicity for the 2012 show promises "another night of infamous F-bombs, celebrity spit swapping and A-List antics."

Executive Producer for 2012
Innovative Jesse Ignjatovic and his company Den of Thieves, which specializes in event shows and reality television series, will serve as executive producer of this year’s show. Among the company’s other productions is VH1’s "The T.O Show," "MTV Unplugged: Lil Wayne," the 2011 "16th Annual Critics’ Choice Movie Awards" and 2010 "CMT Music Awards."

Ignjatovic has served as executive producer for the “MTV Video Music Awards” for the past five years, including the 2011 "Video Music Awards," which scored the biggest audience in MTV's history.

History
Last year’s awards show, hosted by comedian Jason Sudeikis, was a controversial one with Justin Timberlake and Mila Kunis groping each other as they presented the Best Male Performance trophy to Robert Pattinson.

The Foo Fighters rocked the house along with Lupe Fiasco and Trey Songz, and there was a surprise appearance by Justin Bieber. Among the celebs in the house were Cameron Diaz, Jim Carrey, Kristen Stewart and Alexys Nycole Sanchez.

The "MTV Movie Awards" debuted in 1992 in a show emceed by comedian Dennis Miller. "Terminator 2: Judgement Day" won the Best Movie award that year.

Previous MTV Movie Award winners
While the Oscars and Golden Globes dominate Hollywood’s most prestigious movie awards list, MTV Movie Awards are treasured because they’re closely monitored by a younger demographic. The "Twilight" series has captured the Best Movie title over the past three years ("Twilight" in 2009, "New Moon" in 2010 and "Eclipse" in 2011). Previous winners include "The Transformers" in 2008, "Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest" in 2007, "Wedding Crashers" in 2006 and "Napoleon Dynamite" in 2005.

Known as Hollywood’s most over-the-top awards show, the “MTV Movie Awards” never fails to deliver on big surprises and irreverent behavior. The 2012 version promises to score high on both counts.
