Dallas Animal Advocates:
Tickets on Sale for Real Men Care
It’s the Party of the Year … Support Your City Animal Shelter!
Last month, we introduced you to Dallas Animal Advocates, the support group for the city’s municipal animal shelter: Dallas Animal Services & Adoption Center. Your tax-deductible donations to Dallas Animal Advocates enable us to fund equipment, supplies, and programs that the city cannot afford.
This month, we’re thrilled to announce our 2012 “Real Men,” whom we’ll be toasting at Real Men Care. This is our biggest event of the year, and we know you’ll want to join us Sunday evening, May 6, at Sambuca Uptown Dallas. DAA is honored to be producing this unique event and sharing the proceeds with the Metroplex Animal Coalition.
As you can tell from the name, Real Men Care celebrates some special men who have made a big difference for the animals in our community. Here are two of our 2012 Real Men:
- Assistant District Attorney David Alex, who has prosecuted some of the most difficult animal cruelty cases imaginable. He will be introduced by District Attorney Craig Watkins, who has had the courage and the vision to give these cases the attention they deserve.
- Skip Trimble, a legend among the animal welfare and animal rescue communities. In terms of animal-protection legislation at the state and local levels, we believe Skip has had a greater impact than any other individual.
Tickets are now on sale at the advance price of $65. Please go to http://www.metroplexanimalcoalition.org/RealMenCare.html. If you would like to donate to our auction, or if you are interested in being an event sponsor, please contact us at RMCeventMay6@gmail.com.
This month's Featured Pets:
Meanwhile, check out some great pets at Dallas Animal Services and Adoption Center, 1818 N. Westmoreland at I-30. Here are some of the dogs waiting for their forever homes. Given some love and some training, all these dogs will make wonderful companions. The adoption fee for dogs is $85 and includes spay or neuter surgery, first shots, and health exam. Best deal in town! You can visit the adoption site here.

Dallas Animal Advocates is here to make the city animal shelter a more comfortable and comforting environment for every pet – no matter how long, or how short, its stay.
Dallas Animal Advocates, a non-profit, 501 c 3 organization, is the support group for Dallas Animal Services. We raise funds to supply Animal Services with items that the city can’t afford, but that are essential to providing quality care for the animals. For example, one of our most popular programs is our Creature Comforts holiday campaign. This annual fundraising drive allows us to buy bedding for every single animal in the shelter – including the frequently overlooked Lost & Found areas, where dogs and cats wait to be evaluated for adoption, or for their owners to claim them.
Because Dallas Animal Services is the city’s municipal “animal control” agency, some people don’t even realize that the shelter has an adoption program. Yet, conveniently located at I-30 and Westmoreland, there are hundreds of wonderful dogs and cats – just waiting for their second chances. At Dallas Animal Advocates, we work with the DAS staff to create adoption events and to spread the word so that more pets will find their forever homes.
