What do you get when you combine supermodel Adriana Lima, hard rockers Mötley Crüe and fighter Chuck Liddell? An explosive commercial for the 2012 Optima Limited that fulfills every man’s dream.

“Drive the Dream” made its world premiere as a 60-second Super Bowl spot on February 5, 2012. A 15-second teaser version was also shown in movie theaters and on the Kia Motors America Facebook page leading up to its official release. The commercial marks the third bold spot Kia has aired during the big game, following the success of “One Epic Ride” (2011) and “Joyride Dream” (2010). All three ads were created by ad agency David&Goliath.
Set in a dream-like fantasy, “Drive the Dream” depicts the Optima cruising around a racetrack with Lima serving as an honorary flag girl. If that isn’t enough to get your adrenaline flowing, Mötley Crüe shreds through a blistering performance of their pulse-pounding hard rock classic Kickstart My Heart while dazzling pyrotechnics blaze overhead.
The epic dream continues with mixed martial artist Chuck Liddell battling in the ring while champion bull rider Judd Leffew tames a bucking rhinoceros. This unbelievable scene even includes a fairytale ending.
“A hot model, a fast car, a pro fighter, pyrotechnics and rock ‘n’ roll. What’s not to love?” said Mötley Crüe’s Nikki Sixx.
In addition to its own social media channels, Kia also leveraged the Facebook and Twitter followings of the ad’s stars to help build buzz and increase awareness for the new commercial. The spot ultimately helps showcase how Kia has become a more upscale and edgier brand.
The new ad takes place in a dream world, but in the real world, Kia continues to surprise thanks to its dynamic new designs, quality of craftsmanship and affordable places. Drive the new Optima Limited and let your dreams become reality.
