Vehicle Profile: 2012 Dodge Grand Caravan Lineup
The Grand Caravan is the right minivan for the right price.

A family minivan needs to be versatile. Whether you need to take the whole family on vacation, four kids to soccer practice or enjoy a nice evening out with your significant other, the Dodge Grand caravan is along for the ride with options ranging from economical to completely luxurious.

Features and Recognition

The year 2012 brings the best Grand Caravan to date. Named a “Top Safety Pick” by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety and featured on Consumer Guide Automotive’s 2012 list of “Best Buys,” the Grand Caravan offers buyers five trims to suit their needs and budgets. All models come standard with the class-exclusive and revolutionary Stow 'n Go® seating system with up to 81 different seating configurations. All Grand Caravan trims also come standard with a 3.6-liter V6 (named to the “10 Best Engines” list by Ward’s Automotive) that produces a best-in-class 283 hp and has a 3,600 pound towing capacity.

There isn’t a family trip the Grand Caravan can’t handle. Occupants are protected thanks to more than 40 safety and technology features, and all models come standard with a five-year, 100,000-mile Powertrain Limited Warranty. Exterior details include the “split crosshair” grille and “ring of fire” LED taillamps. “More than 27 years ago, Dodge created a revolution by launching the first minivan, and through continued innovations like our industry-exclusive Super Stow ‘n Go Seating, we’ve remained the leader ever since,” said Reid Bigland, Dodge brand president and CEO, Chrysler Group LLC.

Which Trim Is Right For You?

The five 2012 Dodge Grand Caravan trims offer value and versatility:

Grand Caravan AVP (MSRP $20,995) – As America’s best-priced minivan, this trim is far from being a “base” model. Standard features include upgraded interior materials, steering wheel-mounted cruise and audio controls, air conditioning, keyless entry, power heated mirrors, Uconnect Media Center 130 radio with MP3 capability, a rear auxiliary jack and a 12-volt power outlet.

Grand Caravan SE – The SE adds attractive elements such as body-colored moldings and door handles, tri-zone air conditioning, a clever floor console and sunscreen glass. A six-speaker audio system is added, and SiriusXM Satellite Radio and Uconnect Web become available options.

Grand Caravan SXT – With lots of extra equipment as standard, the SXT stands out with family-friendly features like power sliding doors and tailgate, power-adjustable pedals and power heated mirrors. The 16-inch wheels also get dressed up, but the big addition is the Uconnect Touch™ Media Center 430 with 6.5-inch touch-screen. Rear seat passengers will enjoy entertainment from the second-row overhead nine-inch screen.

Grand Caravan Crew – The Crew trim kicks up the style quotient again by adding foglamps and the unique Stow ’n Place Roof Rack System, which folds into the roof when not needed. Wheels are upgraded to 17-inchers and leather is added to the steering wheel and shift knob. Technology upgrades for Crew models include ambient interior lighting, remote start, HomeLink® universal transceiver and the ParkView® Rear Back Up Camera which takes the guesswork out of parking.

Grand Caravan R/T – As the top dog in the Grand Caravan family, the R/T rivals some luxury SUVs with a performance suspension, 17-inch polished aluminum wheels, aluminum interior accents, premium leather with contrast stitching for the seats and a 506-watt, 11-channel audio system with nine Infinity® acoustic speakers.

There is no wrong choice, and regardless of which model you choose, you’ll also receive Dodge safety features including Electronic Stability Control, Anti-Lock Brakes, Tire Pressure Monitoring System and an Advanced Airbag system.
