Vehicle Details: The 2012 Chrysler 300 SRT8 Performance
Own the car. Own the road.

The black chrome upper and lower grille accents on the 2012 Chrysler 300 SRT8 hint at a secret that the set of oversized, 20-inch black alloy wheels gives away. For such a sophisticated and refined luxury sedan, the SRT8 sure knows how to tear up some pavement.

There’s a simple elegance to the new, race-inspired Chrysler 300 SRT8 trim (starting MSRP $48,470) – a certain something that stretches beyond soft leather and premium appointments. It’s at once graceful and poetic, and powerfully aggressive. The exceptional performance is the sizzle that makes the refined, luxurious 300 even more appetizing.

Power in the 2012 300 SRT8 comes from a new, 6.4-liter HEMI® V8 (they don’t call the birthplace of the 300 the “Motor City” for nothing). It generates a staggering 470 hp and 470 lb/ft of torque, and with the gearshift for the sedan’s substantial five-speed automatic transmission in your palm, you’ll likely feel every bit of it. This V8 is built for the standing start, tuned to go from zero-to-60 mph in a mere 4.5 seconds, along with powerful straight-line performance and exceptional idle stability. Innovative Fuel Saver technology even ensures that you’ll burn more rubber than fuel as you squeeze every ounce of power from the new V8.

Inside, the SRT8 gets a full-color graphic Electronic Vehicle Information Center (EVIC), an 8.4-inch touch-screen on the instrument panel designed to track and display your vehicle’s performance stats. Everything––including horsepower and torque outputs, g-force distribution, braking information and your zero-to-60, eighth-mile and quarter-mile times––is now, quite literally, at your fingertips.

The groundbreaking engine and knee-buckling performance specs are accompanied by a smooth, comfortable responsiveness from behind the wheel of the newest 300. Chrysler has given the SRT8 a specially tuned front and rear multi-link suspension system, along with sport-tuned front suspension hydro-bushings, shock absorbers and spring rates, resulting in fewer vibrations, less roughness and more enjoyable handling. A two-mode adaptive damping suspension adjusts to driver input for maximum control.

Making steering even more rewarding (and forgiving) is a three-mode Electronic Stability Control system, which helps maintain precision and control through corners and on slippery surfaces. The SRT8 also gets the confidence of world-class braking power in the form of vented rotors with massive four-piston, silver-finished Brembo calipers. In addition to an innovative Rain Brake Support feature, (which applies a hint of pressure to the discs to dry them when the windshield wipers are engaged), the 300 SRT8 employs an advanced Ready Alert Braking system, which anticipates emergency braking situations and activates an at-the-ready stability control pump to boost brake power and lessen the vehicle’s stop time.

If you think you’re up to the task of corralling all 470 horses of the impressive V8, don’t just buy the car, learn how to maximize its potential with the SRT Track Experience. Anyone who purchases a 2012 Chrysler 300 SRT8 has the option of receiving a full day of real racecar driving instruction from expert drivers at racetracks all over the country. Ask your sales associate for more information, and schedule your test drive of the 2012 Chrysler 300 SRT8 while you’re at it.
