Vehicle Profile: The 2012 Jeep® Liberty Arctic Edition
New Jeep special edition looks cool for all seasons.

Whether winter brings snow or sunshine, rain or slush, cold or warmth, a Trail Rated® Jeep Liberty is a fun, capable SUV for any kind of driving. The 2012 Jeep® Liberty Arctic Edition, a special model inspired by the extreme winter conditions of the planet’s northern reaches, looks cool all year long.

Based on the Jeep Liberty Sport 4x4 model with its Trail Rated capability, the Liberty Arctic Edition would certainly be a tool you’d want were you venturing into the Arctic Circle. You don’t have to drive nearly that far, however, or experience the region’s brutal minus 50 degrees F temperatures and 100 mph winds to get the most from this new Jeep special edition. The 2012 Jeep Liberty Arctic Edition looks cooler than an iceberg, yet its MSRP of $26,670 will warm you with its all-terrain capability and towing capacity, its outstanding value and its standard heated front seats.

The 2012 Jeep Liberty Arctic Edition starts with a choice of four exterior colors including Winter Chill, Bright Silver, Bright White and Mineral Gray. The special edition model’s front fenders wear “Arctic” badges while an “Arctic” decal adorns the hood. Semi-gloss black 16-inch aluminum wheels with outline white-letter tires and blacked-out headlights provide a sharp contrast to any of the four exterior colors. Standard foglamps and tow hooks – towing capacity is up to 5,000 pounds when properly equipped – add to this vehicle’s inherent rugged capability.

Inside the 2012 Jeep Liberty Arctic Edition, the cool theme continues with a dark slate-gray interior and unique gray instrument cluster. Standard power-adjustable, Gore-Tex®-embossed, heated cloth front seats take the chill out of any cold day while hot-looking Arctic Orange stitching trims the cushions, backrests and headrests. The interior trim features sporty Tectonic Fabric inserts with Polar White accents. One-touch up/down power windows add that little extra touch of convenience that you’ll appreciate all the more on a cold day.

If your feet drag a winter mess into your Liberty Arctic Edition, the standard Mopar Slush Mats, set off with the “Jeep” name in Polar White lettering, will help protect the interior. Finally, the package also equips this special Liberty with the Media Center 430 touchscreen radio with nine speakers and 6.5-inch display.

Consider all the contents of the Liberty Arctic Edition the “icing” on an already complete cake, if you will.

As in all 2012 Jeep Liberty models, the Liberty Arctic Edition is powered by a standard 3.7-liter V6 that churns out 210 hp and a stout 235 lb/ft of torque. It’s teamed with a standard four-speed automatic transmission and the latest generation of the proven Command-Trac II® part-time four-wheel drive system. Command-Trac II lets you choose from 2WD, 4WD Lock and 4WD Low modes, and the Neutral setting allows you to flat-tow the Liberty Arctic Edition. That’s something you can’t do with many crossovers because it can damage their all-wheel drive systems. Jeep Liberty models ride on tough underpinnings including a five-link solid-axle rear suspension while independent front suspension helps smooth the ride.

It’s easy to enhance your Jeep Liberty Arctic Edition with more comfort and convenience. For example, you can choose between the available power sunroof and the Sky Slider® full-length open-canvas roof, an industry exclusive. Bring a telescope, and the Sky Slider can turn the Jeep Liberty Arctic into your personal observatory. It’s perfect for gazing at the stars under crystal-clear Arctic skies, or closer to home. The optional Driver Convenience Group equips the Liberty Arctic Edition with Uconnect® Voice Command with Bluetooth®, a voice-activated system that lets you communicate virtually hands-free using your compatible phone, and you can also stream audio from a compatible device.

The system’s microphone is installed in the auto-dimming rear-view mirror, which also integrates a temperature/compass gauge. You’ll find those, and the map lights, useful for adventure seeking, even if it’s just locating a state park you haven’t yet visited.

Come in and see the coolest all-season, all-terrain SUV available, the 2012 Jeep Liberty Arctic Edition.
