New Work Request Module Helps Manage District Workload

Automate the daily workflow of your maintenance and custodial staff with Skyward’s new Work Request module.  As one of the latest additions to our suite of applications the Work Request module allows end-users to enter requests for in-house needs and process the requests electronically through the Employee Access portal.

By utilizing Employee Access, the concepts for entry, approval, and assignment of work requests are similar to requisition and time-off processing; eliminating additional training accustomed to a standalone system. The module also allows the district to setup an unlimited number of “work types” so you can classify your requests by custodial, technology, maintenance, busing, or whatever is suited for your needs.

As requests are made, they flow through your pre-defined organizational chart that is likely already established for time-off requests, with final approval authority being controlled by the supervisor assigned to the work type.  As supervisors approve the various requests, they may then assign the request an appropriate priority level and staff person to resolve the request.

As your custodial or maintenance staff login for the day, they can quickly see their workload and address requests based on priority and workflow.  As projects are completed, notes can be entered and the request can be updated with the appropriate status.

Throughout the process, auto-email notifications occur to inform the requester and assigned employee of new work requests, along with information when the project is completed and closed out.

System reports are also available to view requests by building and work type that may help indicate larger problems requiring major improvements down the road.  By managing this information electronically, you now will know about these issues in advance, allowing for a proactive approach to resolve the larger issue before it turns into a major expense.

As the work request module continues to mature over the coming year, many additional features will be added to make this module even more effective for your district. If you would like to get in on the ground floor of this exciting new module, please contact your Account Executive or call Skyward Sales at 800-236-7274.
