40 Days And Counting

It’s hard to believe there are only 40 market days left in 2005. And more often than not, these last couple months provide investors with their total returns for the year. Will it happen again? Given last Thursday and Friday’s successful retest of the lows, I would suggest the odds are in favor of that routine again. However, we’re not quite out of the woods yet. Tomorrow the Federal Reserve will raise interest rates by 0.25% for the 12th consecutive time and are likely to continue fighting inflation right into year end. Even if the market responds well, we should see one more decline that sets the stage for the real sustainable rally to begin.
