If you haven't visited the 2007 SirsiDynix SuperConference Web site, http://www.superconference.info, be sure to do so today. The UUGI Executive Committee is pleased to present a full program of user presentations by UUGI and SirsiDynix for the conference, which will be February 19-21 in Colorado Springs, Colo. Please review the wide variety of program topics, covering many aspects of the Unicorn software, at http://www.superconference.info/sc2007_prelim_prog_voting.php. UUGI is also sponsoring two pre-conference seminars on PERL and Federated Searching that will be of interest to many of you.
Another special event will be Stephen Abram’s presentation, “The User Experience: Pieces of the Puzzle Fall into Place,” set for Sunday evening, February 18, from 6-7 p.m. So plan to arrive in Colorado Springs in time to attend.
Exciting Venue
This is the first time the users' conference has been held outside the central United States, and we are excited about the venue selected, the beautiful Broadmoor Hotel and Convention Center. The entire complex has been reserved for the conference, so you will have many opportunities, both during formal sessions and unscheduled time, to meet with other conference attendees and discuss how your peers use Unicorn and related third-party products.
Early Registration is Open
Early registration is in progress. There are substantial savings for UUGI members who take advantage of early registration rates. Recognizing that travel budgets are tight, the UUGI Executive Board worked with SirsiDynix to reduce registration costs - this year's registration fee is substantially lower than last year's for UUGI members. If you register during early registration, you’ll save $50 off regular registration fees. Register now at http://superconference.info/2007/sc2007_registration.html
If you plan to attend an UUGI pre-conference seminar, your library/institution must be a member of UUGI. If you haven't already joined UUGI, don't wait. You can register at http://www.uugi.org/membership.htm right now.
Travel Arrangements
As you make your travel arrangements, plan on staying for the entire event - the conference program goes through 5 p.m. on Wednesday and is followed by the SirsiDynix party. You won't want to miss anything. Information about discounted airline fares through American Airlines and Avis Car Rental is posted at http://www.superconference.info/2007/sc2007_transportation.html. You might even want to stay a few days after the conference to enjoy scenic Colorado Springs. Steeply discounted hotel rates are valid through February 25, providing a great opportunity for a mini-vacation in the Rockies.
The UUGI Conference Chairs and Executive Committee have been preparing for this conference since March 2006. We hope to see a great turnout in Colorado Springs for what will be an outstanding users' conference.
