Spanish Unicorn Users Convene in Madrid

The annual meeting of the SirsiDynix Spanish Unicorn Users' Group was held on Sunday, May 7, and Monday May 8, 2006, at the Colmenarejo campus of the Universidad Carlos III de Madrid. The campus is just outside Madrid near the El Escorial palace. The users were invited to meet on Sunday afternoon at the university campus and were taken on a visit to El Escorial. Later in the evening there was an opportunity to meet for dinner with other users and SirsiDynix staff.

After registration on Monday morning, more than 40 users listened to a presentation from Peter Gethin, SirsiDynix managing director of Europe, Middle East and Africa, which he gave completely in Spanish. This was the first users' group meeting in Spain since the merger, so there was a lot of news to impart.

This was followed by a presentation from TalkingTech, the suppliers of the iTiva - voice message system.

After lunch, the users' group had an opportunity to meet and talk amongst themselves. Following which there were two presentations from the latest two installed Spanish sites, the Col.legi d'Arquitectes de Catalunya (in Barcelona) and the Instituto Valenciano de Cinematografia 'Ricardo Muņoz Suay' (in Valencia). There was also an optional visit to the University Library.
