FACT!  SirsiDynix has produced three staff clients for use with Unicorn. In chronological order of release, those clients are:

1. InfoVIEW
2. WorkFlows® C client
3. WorkFlows for the Java™ Platform

In order to ease the transition into the new client, SirsiDynix has permitted those who initially used the InfoVIEW client to install and use both the InfoVIEW client and the WorkFlows C client on the same workstation.

Now with the new WorkFlows Java client, SirsiDynix permits users to run both the WorkFlows Java client and the WorkFlows C client, provided that the Unicorn server is running Unicorn 2003.1.4.* or GL3.0. As announced two years ago, support for the InfoVIEW client has been discontinued at Unicorn GL3.0 and beyond.

SirsiDynix does not require users to run the WorkFlows Java client exclusively. The two WorkFlows clients can be installed in different directories on the same workstation. This is true at Unicorn 2003.1.4 and Unicorn GL3.0. It will also be true at Unicorn GL3.1 and Unicorn GL3.2 at a minimum.

At the 2006 SuperConference, Berit Nelson, SirsiDynix vice president of technical product design, announced that SirsiDynix will continue to build the C client for Unicorn versions that are released through 2008. All sites should expect that 2008 will be the last year in which SirsiDynix builds the C client.
