Maximizing Your Sirsi DataStream

Knowledge is ever expanding, and so is your Sirsi DataStreamÔ subscription - growing and changing continually as new and improved resources become available or are recommended by our clients. To take maximum advantage of your DataStream subscription you can keep your resources up-to-the-minute - even before the next upgrade.

When Sirsi iBistro or iLink e-library solution is first installed, libraries specify the Best Seller Lists and Recommended Reading lists they want to display. Then as new lists are added, the additions appear with each new upgrade. You don’t need to wait for an upgrade, however. As Sirsi automatically updates the pool of resources your library can choose from, with just a few simple steps you can also change your choices to immediately include these additional resources. As new lists are made available, these easy steps to display the list in iBistro/iLink are always included.

To control which lists your users can access, you merely need to modify the appropriate file. After a Unicorn halt/run, your users will be able to see the new list in iBistro or iLink. It’s as simple as that. To access the details, just go to http://www.sirsi.com/uhtbin/custinfo/Documentation/Contentlists/index.html or to Sirsi’s Client Care Center and then to Documentation/e-Library Content Lists located under Product information. Here you can view the most current Best Seller and Recommended Reading lists and see how to display any new lists immediately at your library.

Sirsi is also enhancing Sirsi DataStream with selected Canadian URLs in the recommended links feed. This content must be “turned on” during the installation of iBistro/iLink. Then, as new lists are added, they can be displayed by modifying your files as discussed above. Sirsi is always looking for additional Canadian content and is looking forward to more recommendations.
