AFCEA Intelligence is launching its first annual
writing competition that focuses on issues that concern the intelligence community’s leadership. Designed to support AFCEA’s mission of facilitating communication among government, military and industry, the essay contest aims to bring forth resources and generate input in intelligence community dialogue.
According to Col. Steve Ritchey, USAF (Ret.), director, AFCEA Intelligence, the contest is a forum for industry, government, academia and the general public. It represents an innovative opportunity for intelligence professionals to express themselves and gather the ideas and issues most pertinent to the world of intelligence today.
The contest is open to everyone and will examine the topic “Intelligence in Asymmetric Warfare.” Entries must be 2,500 words or less, excluding footnotes and the bibliography. The deadline is October 31, 2007.
The first place winner will be awarded $2,000, a two-year AFCEA membership and the AFCEA Medallion. Second and third place prizes also will be awarded. Winning entries may be published in
SIGNAL Magazine or other journals. Contest rules and more information are available on the
AFCEA Intelligence Web site, where visitors also will find information on other AFCEA Intelligence exclusives such as white papers, symposia and courses.
