Annual Golf Tournament Supports Scholarships

A significant portion of the proceeds from this tournament go to the Diversity Scholarship program.

AFCEA International hosted the 10th annual Diversity Golf Tournament in July at the Westfields Golf Club, Clifton, Virginia. Proceeds from the tournament are consigned each year to the Educational Foundation’s Ralph W. Shrader Diversity Scholarship Fund. The fund was established in 1998 by a generous donation from Booz Allen Hamilton to honor the contributions of its then-president and chief executive officer, Dr. Ralph W. Shrader, to AFCEA. Because of these contributions and subsequent donations from Booz Allen Hamilton, the scholarships will be offered in perpetuity. This year’s recipients are featured on the foundation’s Web site.

More than 125 golfers played in this year’s tournament. The participants competed for special prizes that AFCEA awarded during the concluding luncheon at the “19th Hole.”

The foundation wishes to thank the tournament’s corporate sponsors who gave generously to make the event a success as well as the AFCEA Team members who make this event possible: Becky Nolan, AFCEA International executive vice president, and staff members Jenny Pereira, Gina McGovern, Maureen Cirrito (event coordinator) and Tobey Jackson.

The AFCEA staff members whose hard work contributed to the success of this year’s Diversity Golf Tournament are (l-r) Jenny Pereira, Gina McGovern, Maureen Cirrito (event coordinator) and Tobey Jackson.
