European Professional Development Information
The AFCEA Educational Foundation Board of Directors, working with Consultancy Solutions Limited's (CSL's) training division (www.consulting-uk.com) and Adfingo Limited (www.adfingo.net), is establishing a professional development program for Europe. The program is called Professional Development Europe (PDE) and will be designed with a European approach.

The new program addresses the need for professional development courses with a European focus that are offered throughout Europe. In the United States, the AFCEA Professional Development Center offers a high-quality program of courses in the C4ISR disciplines, taught mainly at AFCEA Headquarters in Fairfax, Virginia. However in Europe, where there are now approximately 37 chapters and sub-branches in 19 countries, members find it difficult to take advantage of the courses offered exclusively in the United States.

This new initiative is a demand-led program based on wide consultation. A questionnaire at www.consulting-uk.com/afcea.htm is offered to help direct the courses to student needs. The initial pilot courses are being arranged for summer and fall 2004 and include the following: PRINCE2 Project Management Foundation (with exam); An Overview of Project Management Best Practice; Managing Information Security; Principles of Defense Procurement; Advanced Digital Signal Processing for Communications; and Software Defined Radio.

These courses will be centrally controlled and managed by CSL for AFCEA Europe Headquarters. There will be dispersed training delivery at locations throughout Europe.

Professional Development Europe will have an inclusive approach to training delivery, not limited to CSL and Adfingo. The full program will be developed within two years, starting June 1, 2004. Delivery of training will be in English, with translation support as necessary.
