Connect for a Cure Charity Ball

AFCEA joined ITPA in cosponsoring the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation "Connect for A Cure Charity Ball."  This black tie event included a silent auction, a live auction, dinner and dancing. Virginia Governor Mark R. Warner was honored for his contributions in helping to find a cure for juvenile diabetes.  Jim Handly of Washington D.C. NBC 4 was the  event's emcee.

Juvenile diabetes strikes children suddenly, makes them insulin-dependent for life, and carries the constant threat of devastating complications.  Parents of children with the disease  founded JDRF in 1970.  It is now  the leading charitable funder and advocate of juvenile (type 1) diabetes research worldwide. Since inception, JDRF has provided more than $600 million in direct funding to diabetes research.  In a typical year, more than 80 percent of JDRF's expenditures directly support research and research-related education.  JDRF's mission is constant:  to find a cure for diabetes and its complications through the support of research.  For more information, visit the JDRF web site at www.jdrf.org.
