In an effort to better support chapters throughout AFCEA, the association has created the position of special assistant to the president for chapter affairs and appointed Chuck Corjay, senior vice president, CACI International, to fill the new slot.
With more than 14 years of experience in regional vice president and chapter official roles within AFCEA, Corjay will use his accumulated knowledge and skills to help chapters plan successful events, increasing revenue for their scholarship programs in the process. He also will assist chapters with membership growth and work with regional vice presidents throughout the association.
“One of the aspects of this position will be to help chapters utilize the total resources of AFCEA International in their local events,” Corjay explains. The chapters don’t always know all the benefits that are available from the headquarters, Corjay notes, so he will work to increase their awareness.
Already, Corjay has assisted the Pacific Northwest Region in its process of finding a regional vice president and has been contacted by AFCEA Canada.
As part of his responsibilities as special assistant for chapter affairs, Corjay will continue his Career Transition presentations at AFCEA events. In addition to sessions at the AFCEA/USNI Western Conference and at TechNet International, Corjay will be conducting the seminars at
AFCEA events in Tampa, Florida; San Antonio, Texas; and near Scott Air Force Base in Collinville, Illinois.
Corjay has served as regional vice president in the Midwest, Midsouth and New Orleans regions of the association and is currently on the board of directors for the Northern Virginia chapter. He has held many chapter and international offices and won numerous awards for his work with AFCEA, including both the Gen. James M. Rockwell AFCEAN of the Year award and the Adm. Jon L. Boyes Medal for Distinguished Service to AFCEA award. Corjay’s strong support of AFCEA at the chapter level, combined with his knowledge of the association’s operations and his commitment to its success, has earned him the nickname Mr. AFCEA.
