Kaiserslautern 7th Annual Technology Expo
The Kaiserslautern Chapter, in conjunction with the 86th Services Squadron, held its 7th Annual Technology Expo in July. The four-day event hosted 60 industry exhibitors that presented information and demonstrations on the latest in encryption products; network security systems and solutions; communication power solutions; desktop and notebook computers; satellite, wireless and turnkey solutions; data storage products, software and hardware; and rugged industrial applications. The event attracted more than 1,000 visitors.

The ribbon-cutting ceremony was led by AFCEA International Vice President of Operations Lt. Gen. John A. Dubia, USA (Ret.), and Col. David B. Warner, USAF, director, communications and information, Headquarters U.S. Air Forces in Europe (USAFE), Ramstein Air Force Base, Germany. The focus of the expo was to bring commercial industry partners and military customers together to share technology needs and solutions to meet today’s demand. The chapter welcomed European-theater military communications experts by hosting tours and briefings for attendees of the USAFE Summer Communications and Information Conference as well as Headquarters Allied Air Forces North NATO leaders.

Kaiserslautern—At the July luncheon, Col. Harper (l) presents a chapter globe to Gen. Dubia for his address to the chapter on AFCEA’s current and future goals. Gen. Dubia presented the chapter with three annual awards, including the Model Chapter Award for 2003.

The conference also included a golf tournament, and coupled with industry partner donations raised more than $14,000 toward the chapter’s scholarship program. The resulting scholarships will be distributed throughout the year to NATO and U.S. enlisted officer and civilian (including dependents) personnel in the Kaiserslautern military community.
