Welcome to Connections

by Vice Adm. Herbert A. Browne, USN (Ret.)

On behalf of AFCEA International, we are pleased to introduce, SIGNAL Connections, AFCEA’s new E-newsletter. Through this medium, AFCEA is expanding its knowledge resources to bring you faster communications, delivered directly to your inbox, linked to the world.

Information is easy to find, but transforming it into knowledge takes a few more steps. AFCEA facilitates these steps by bringing together communications, electronics, intelligence and information systems experts and decision makers worldwide and by providing products such as SIGNAL Magazine, professional development courses and symposia, and events.

And now, AFCEA brings you Connections.

Each month, Connections will feature original material, including articles and news, as well as several sneak peeks at material from the upcoming issue of SIGNAL. This Internet-based resource also will include contract award briefs, new product information, international news and event coverage. In addition to the news and features, Connections will carry association committee reports and contact information for AFCEA staff.

Connections readers can share their opinions on covered topics with other readers and the editors through a “Letters to the Editor” link associated with each story. Along with providing professional interest information through the editorial component, Connections will offer opportunities for corporate members, advertisers and exhibitors to reach their desired audience through sponsorships and banners.

Connections is a flexible and adaptable communications medium, and it is our goal to make it a solid fit to the needs of the readers of SIGNAL, the members of AFCEA and the information technology community.

We encourage you to read and provide feedback to us about this new benefit from AFCEA. The survey section in the first issue asks for input, but the SIGNAL staff welcomes more detailed comments too, and you can contact them directly at signal@afcea.org.

To receive Connections monthly as a member of AFCEA, you must have a valid e-mail address on file. Contact service@afcea.org to update your information. Feel free to pass this newsletter along to your associates and co-workers too.
