Secure Portable Media Storage
As external data storage devices such as thumb drives continue to proliferate, they pose a security risk to government systems because of their potential to be lost or stolen while containing sensitive data. The Credant Mobile Guardian (CMG) External Media Shield (CMG EMS) is a software client package that allows organizations to centrally manage, secure or restrict the use of external storage devices, including universal serial bus flash and external hard drives, smart phone cards and iPods. CMG EMS runs on these external storage devices and allows government users to read and write data to the device. Access is password-protected, and all data is encrypted. The system allows government personnel to remotely plug the portable device into any computer to access and work on existing or new documents and save them to the device, where the information will be automatically encrypted. For more information, visit www.credant.com.

Positioning System Repeater
Keeping track of sensitive equipment indoors can be a challenge because buildings interfere with global positioning system (GPS) signals. The R3G repeater can receive and retransmit GPS; Global Navigation System Satellite, or GLONASS; and Galileo positioning signals inside buildings such as aircraft hangers, integration rooms and factories. An antenna placed on a building’s roof receives input frequencies between 1,160 and 1,614 megahertz and transmits them via a reception cable to a radio frequency box that filters and amplifies the signal. The signals are then retransmitted from a retransmission antenna box. For more information, visit www.elta.fr.

Low Profile Oscillator
Telecommunications equipment requires precision components to maintain voice and data fidelity. Designed for use in base stations, telecommunications infrastructure and network synchronization applications, the NV45Q ovenized crystal oscillator is a surface-mountable device that can be installed without soldering. Its low-profile design allows for tighter spacing of network cards. For more information, visit www.bliley.com.

Mobile Notebook Server
On-the-go users need powerful tools to handle media-rich software and networking applications. The NextBook 17E is a notebook computer incorporating an Intel Duo dual core processor operating at 2.66 gigahertz. It can be upgraded to the Intel Core 2 Extreme processor, which runs at 2.93 gigahertz. The computer can be configured with up to 4 gigabytes of double data rate (DDR) 2 synchronous dynamic random access memory (SDRAM), a 17-inch monitor, peripheral component interconnect (PCI) Express 16x graphics, four universal serial bus 2.0 ports, a digital video interface, audio jacks, high speed Ethernet, up to two 160 gigabyte 7,200 rotations per minute serial advanced technology attachment (SATA) drives, and a recordable digital video disc player. For more information, visit www.nextcomputing.com.

Radio/Voice Gateway
This lightweight mobile communications and command and control console, intercom and radio interoperability system is designed for military users. The BridgeWay-8M is a compact, military-standard device intended to support mobile warfighters using advanced communications systems such as the Warfighter Information Network–Tactical (WIN-T) and the Joint Tactical Radio System (JTRS). The device can manage up to eight radios and 64 Java-based command and control consoles. Personnel also can plug satellite telephones, radios, headsets and Internet protocol communications terminals or personal computers into the BridgeWay-8M to establish a communications network quickly. For more information, visit www.voiceboard.com/subs/vb_sys_interop.html.

Piezoelectric Composite Components
Certain types of systems require specialized components for optimal performance. Designed for use in a variety of military and commercial sonar receiver applications, this line of piezoelectric components is engineered for enhanced acoustic performance. These composite materials reduce the cross-coupling that occurs between different modes in conventional ceramic transducers, which enables sonar components to respond in a more precise and predictable manner.
