Vehicle Profile: 2018 Subaru Outback
Performance and efficiency come together to create the 2018 Subaru Outback

The 2018 Subaru Outback is a strong and capable SUV that perfectly melds power and efficiency. But with great power comes great responsibility. To keep passengers safe, the SUV comes equipped with both active and passive safety features. The Outback provides drivers with peace of mind without sacrificing the fun they have along the way.

The 2018 Subaru Outback is available at six trim levels: 2.5i, 2.5i Premium, 2.5i Limited, 2.5i Touring, 3.6R Limited and 3.6R Touring.

Choose your performance

The 2018 Subaru Outback offers two performance levels for drivers to choose from. At the model’s base trim is a 2.5-liter SUBARU BOXER® four-cylinder engine. This engine is paired to a Lineartronic® Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT). Together, the duo produces 175 horsepower and 174 lb-ft of torque. If you’d like to upgrade your Outback’s powertrain, you can opt for a 3.6-liter SUBARU BOXER® six-cylinder engine. Paired to the same CVT, this combination earns 256 horsepower and 247 lb-ft of torque.

Impressive fuel economy

Even with steadfast performance, the 2018 Outback refuses to sacrifice its fuel economy. With the four-cylinder engine, drivers can expect an estimated 25 mpg in the city and 32 mpg on the highway.* The six-cylinder comes in at a slightly lower rate, earning drivers 20 mpg in the city and 27 mpg on the highway.* With the Outback, Subaru recognizes that a vehicle with strong performance capability doesn’t have to fall short on fuel economy.

Active and passive safety features

To keep you and your family safe inside the cabin, the 2018 Subaru Outback comes equipped with a variety of safety features. Active safety features like the Traction Control System (TCS) help the vehicle grip the road and prevent sliding. Passive safety features, like airbags, are on standby unless an accident actually occurs. The Outback comes standard with a Subaru advanced frontal airbag system, side curtain airbags, seat-mounted front side impact and driver and front passenger seat cushion airbags.

Efficiency and safety don’t have to take a back seat in a capable SUV. The 2018 Subaru Outback combines efficiency, safety and capability, making it the perfect choice for diverse driving personalities.

*EPA-estimated fuel economy. Actual mileage may vary.
