This year’s upcoming December blockbuster Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol will star both Tom Cruise and the revolutionary new BMW Vision EfficientDynamics concept car. Ghost Protocol is the fourth installment of Paramount Pictures’ widely popular Mission: Impossible series and it will feature BMW as its main automotive partner.
The BMW Vision EfficientDynamics concept vehicle offers a glimpse into the future of electric supercars. With ActiveHybrid and plug-in technology, as well as three-cylinder common-rail turbodiesel power, the car is already turning heads at auto shows around the world. BMW plans to use the Vision EfficientDynamics concept car to create the BMW i8, which will enter series production within the next few years.
Ian Robertson, BMW AG board member for sales and marketing, notes that the automaker is thrilled to be part of another major Hollywood film. “With its futuristic design and large glass surfaces, the car offers a fascinating perspective on the future of sheer driving pleasure – in combination with maximum efficiency. Also with BMW ConnectedDrive technology, it is the perfect car for Ethan Hunt to outsmart his pursuers through narrow streets and busy city traffic.”
The BMW Group has supplied several filmmakers and production teams with vehicles for over 35 years. Paramount Pictures’ Executive VP of Worldwide Marketing Partnerships LeeAnne Stables notes that the Hollywood-based company is “extremely appreciative” of the continuous support of BMW throughout the filming process.
