The Buick LaCrosse is completely redesigned for 2017, and it brings a new level of spaciousness, style and sophistication to the full-size luxury sedan segment.
Buick has sold more than 900,000 LaCrosse sedans since the model went on sale in 2009, a testament to the sedan’s all-around excellence. The result of the redesign is a visually striking sedan with a special emphasis on advanced technology and even better performance and responsiveness.
The 2017 Buick LaCrosse starts at an MSRP of $32,065 and is available in LaCrosse, Preferred, Essence and Premium trim levels. U.S. News & World Report ranks the LaCrosse second of 11 in the “Large Car” category, ahead of competitors like the Toyota Avalon and Avalon Hybrid, Chrysler 300, Nissan Maxima, Kia Cadenza and Ford Taurus. In their review, Edmunds editors said, “In addition to its classy styling and high-quality, well-equipped cabin, the new LaCrosse offers the refinement, poise and sophistication you expect from the best luxury cars.”
As the new face of Buick, the 2017 LaCrosse borrows styling cues from the award-winning Avenir concept that was unveiled at the 2015 North American International Auto Show in Detroit. A new waterfall grille, three-color Buick logo and wing-shaped elements give the LaCrosse a strong face, and the newest model is lower, wider, longer and around 300 pounds lighter than the outgoing model.
Powering the LaCrosse is a direct-injected 3.6-liter V6 engine that makes 310 hp and 282 lb/ft of torque. The V6 is paired with a new eight-speed automatic transmission. Efficiency enhancing features that include Active Fuel Management and engine Stop/Start enable the LaCrosse to achieve an EPA-estimated 21 mpg city and 31 mpg highway. A new dual-clutch all-wheel drive system is available, too.
Drivability and handling have been improved. A new five-link rear suspension is standard, and a HiPer (for “High Performance” strut front suspension is available. You can also add an electronically controlled Continuous Damping Control active suspension with driver selectable modes. Stopping power is improved by efficiency-enhancing brakes with long-lasting Duralife rotors.
The latest in safety and driver assistance technologies are standard or available in the LaCrosse, depending on trim selection. There are two Driver Confidence Packages, with systems that include Side Blind Zone Alert with Lane Change Alert, Rear Cross-Traffic Alert, Full Speed Range Adaptive Cruise Control, Front Pedestrian Detection, Front Automatic Braking, Forward Collision Alert, the Safety Alert Seat and Following Distance Indicator. Every LaCrosse is standard with a rearview camera, 10 advanced airbags, electronic stability control, traction control and much more.
The finely crafted cabin of the LaCrosse is serene and luxurious. Buick-signature QuietTuning keeps road noise to a minimum. Amenities offered include High-Intensity Discharge headlamps, LED signature lighting, wireless charging, perforated leather upholstery, front seats with ventilation and massage function, and a heated steering wheel. All models are standard with keyless entry and start, remote vehicle start and an eight-inch color touchscreen for the Buick IntelliLink system, which incorporates Android Auto™, Apple CarPlay™ and OnStar 4G LTE with Wi-Fi hotspot. The LaCrosse is also standard with a Teen Driver feature that allows parents to set controls and monitor their child’s driving habits to encourage safer driving.
