Complementary/alternative medicine (CAM) has come a long way in the past few decades. It was once no more than a stepchild of traditional medicine, totally outside “accepted practice”, and often dismissed as “quackery”. But as medical science demonstrated a willingness to at least test some CAM technologies and services, a number have proven to be valuable and worthy of inclusion in a larger definition of medical care.
