Yahoo to get into Web analytics business with acquisition

Yahoo recently announced that it has entered into an agreement to acquire most of the assets of Tensa Kft., more commonly known as IndexTools. The deal includes IndexTools' Web analytics business and technology, which gives Yahoo an entry into that market. Rivals Google and Microsoft Corp. currently provide analytics tools and products.

Yahoo said the first group of customers to benefit from the analytics tools would be more than 150,000 small and midsize businesses currently marketing online with Yahoo. The transaction is expected to be completed this quarter.

Meet Eric Persons

Q:  What is your background in?
A:  I received my degere in fine arts.  I have spent the last 10 years or so working as a graphic artist involved in web design, UI design, game design and animation.

Q:  What are some notable organizations you've worked for?
A:  I have worked for Sony Electronics, Sony Playstation, Digitaria, 212 Interactive, LAK Advertising, Geary Interactive, The Lambesis Agency, and Grafx Group.

Q: What are your beliefs in the company?
A:  It seems like a good group of talented people with complimentary skills working together to provide our clients with customized websites that provide easy to use tools to track and improve their sales.

Q:  What are your responsibilities at Search Optics?
A: I am responsible for the graphic design of our client's customized web sites in our automotive division. Its my job to create good looking, intuitive and effective page designs for each client's website.

Q:  What do you hope to accomplish at Search Optics?
A:   I hope to provide each client with a unique looking and customized web presence.  One that appears professional, easy to use, and most importantly, succeeds in bringing them new and happy customers (with lots of cash to throw around).

Q:  How does your previous experience lend to being successful here at Search Optics?
A:  I have been involved with numerous web projects that have been product oriented and service oriented.  I think dealership sites combine a need for both.  I know that good web design is not just about things looking pretty or throwing out cool gimicks that are fun to play with.  It's about successfully fulfilling the client's needs.  In this case, giving a dealership a unique identity on the web and providing its customer base with easy-to-use tools that provide them with the information they want quickly and easily.  And, ultimately, bring new customers to their dealership on a regular basis to purchase vehicles.
