Capturing and distributing CI: a research survey.

Jane Marin, University of Strathclyde

**********

Summary: Jane Marin, a SCIP student member, is conducting a survey as part of her MSc in Information and Library Studies research at the University of Strathclyde in Glasgow, Scotland. Research description:

As SCIP is the leading professional organization for competitive intelligence professionals worldwide, I would be most grateful for the opportunity to present this survey to its members. All responses will be kept in strictest confidence; this is further ensured by the fact that no identifying or personal data is asked for. I will provide a write-up of the survey’s results and their relation to previous research in this area.

The main aim of my research is to identify and evaluate the methods by which organizations capture competitive intelligence and the internal channels they use most widely for its distribution. An online survey is a core part of my primary research. The categories used in the survey, particularly for identifying industries and job titles, are the same as SCIP uses to facilitate consistency and usability.
