Twenty five years ago Apple introduced the Macintosh computer. It featured a nine inch monochrome screen, weighed twenty pounds and cost about $2200. The LaserJet printer Hewlett-Packard introduced that year printed eight pages-per-minute and retailed at $3,600. In 1984, an IBM PC equipped with 20 MB hard drive cost almost $6,000. And at this time, Sapphire Technologies opened its doors as a single office.
Sapphire, one of the most extensive IT staffing organizations in the world, is proud to announce its twenty-fifth year in the IT staffing business. Emerging just as Information Technology applications were beginning to become a business necessity, Sapphire has grown from one office on Boston’s Route 128 “technology belt” to 35 offices in the U.S. alone.
Through the years, Sapphire’s service offerings have also expanded to cater to the needs of its clients. Since 1984, Sapphire has helped connect top talent with top companies around the globe or around the corner. With a core of IT staff augmentation, Sapphire Technologies also provides distinct, complementary services: Permanent IT staffing; Statement of Work staffing through our Sapphire Solutions concept; and Enterprise Technology expertise with our B2B Workforce partner.
Sapphire celebrates this achievement with nearly 400 internal employees, thousands of working consultants, a ranking among the top 10 largest IT staffing companies in the United States six years running, and a new ownership structure as a Randstad company. We look forward to the next 25 years and thank you for working with us as we celebrate our silver anniversary.
