GM Foundation Helps Make Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial a Reality
Thanks to $10 million and an additional $100,000, King’s legacy will continue to live on.
This past October, the Martin Luther King, Jr. National Memorial was unveiled in Washington, DC. The monument required more than two decades of planning, as well as extensive fundraising support. The Washington, DC Martin Luther King, Jr. National Memorial Project Foundation raised the nearly $120 million needed to complete the project and related program. Thanks to General Motors, the foundation received $10 million and an additional $100,000 grant that was announced by GM North America President Mark Reuss at the MLK Legacy Reception.
