There’s Never a Dull Moment in Northern Texas
Join one of the region’s enthusiastic social clubs.

The northern region of Texas is home to a variety of clubs and social organizations. From flowers to films, there’s a group for every interest and hobby. Check out what’s happening in your neighborhood.

Gardening is a great way to make new friends, get inspiration for beautifying your own plots, and plantings. Texas Garden Clubs, Inc., (TGC) makes it easy to find local gardening groups and events. TGC is divided into 10 districts: District II, Blacklands including 23 counties containing several active organizations like the Avant Gardeners (Fort Worth), Blue Bonnet Garden Club (Mineral Wells), Ladybug Garden Club (Granbury) and the Arlington Organic Garden Club. More than 11,000 individuals participate in TGC clubs, and they’re always busy with flower shows, workshops, youth activities and more. Texas Garden Clubs, Inc. is also a member of National Garden Clubs and is one of the largest volunteer gardening organizations in the world. Visit www.texasgardenclubs.org for membership information and applications, and get ready to grow something beautiful.

Love movies? Check out the Dallas Film Society (DFS), host of the Dallas International Film Festival and supporter of some of the world’s most brilliant filmmakers. Members get exclusive invitations to the Dallas International Film Festival, the DFS Premiere Series (featuring soon-to-be released films), monthly screenings at the Nasher Sculpture Center and special events at the Dallas Museum of Art and the AT&T Performing Arts Center. Members-only screenings provide an opportunity to discuss your favorite films and genres with other individuals who have a passion for the silver screen. Learn more about the Dallas Film Society at www.dallasfilm.org.

If you’re looking for a group of people who love exploring and socializing, consider joining North Texas Adventures. Throughout the year, indoor and outdoor events – hiking, camping, canoeing, sailing, community projects, dinners, pool parties, wine tastings, live theater and more – will fill your calendar with plenty of fun. While some events are for adults, many are designed for families and kids. In the past few months, the club has gone golfing, attended a ballet performance and enjoyed a movie on Margarita Monday. The group will be heading to Grapevine’s Texas Paddlesports Show on May 12, 2012. View photos and the calendar of public and members-only events at www.northtexasadventures.net.

There’s a good chance that folks in your area are looking to meet up for some fun, too, so get out and see what Northern Texas has to offer.
