Shell ROTELLA T meets every major spec in the book, including API CI-4, Cummins CES 20078, Mack EO-N Premium Plus, and Volvo VDS-3 standards for low emission engines.
It also meets warranty requirements for all trucks manufactured in the U.S.
Battling Mother Nature
So Shell ROTELLA T was prepared for whatever Mother Nature and the Mercedes-Benz Twin Turbo in Mike Ryan’s Freightliner could dish out.
Any fan lining the course can tell you how much dirt a 1,250-horsepower diesel kicks up from under the wheels.
However, the bigger issues are the soot and corrosive acid that kicks into the crankcase and the unrelenting pressure that can wreak havoc in the engine’s combustion chamber.
And as if all that weren’t enough, Shell ROTELLA T also took on the 1,000-horsepower Detroit Diesel engine in Molly Morter’s Sterling.
When the dust settled...
When the dust settled in the rarefied air above the timberline, Shell ROTELLA T had met the challenge. Mike won the Class 8 Big Rig division with a new record time of 13 minutes and 21.4 seconds. Molly took second place in the tandem-axle division in her first run to the summit.
The mountain was every bit as dramatic up close as the souvenir postcards promised. And, most important, Shell ROTELLA T proved it can protect the valve train, pistons, liners and bearings in engines this demanding and an altitude this unnerving.
