Take Route 66 and get a taste of what the Land of Lincoln is all about!

Known as the Main Street of America, Route 66 runs from Chicago all the way to Los Angeles, California for a total of nearly 2,500 miles. The path begins along the shore of Lake Michigan, connecting the Midwest to California. In fact, this road existed before Route 66 and was first called the Pontiac Trail. In 1918, Illinois began paving the road and, by the time Route 66 was instituted, it was entirely paved. (Fun Fact: This piece of Route 66 was the first fully paved highway in the state!)
