Despite several market and technological challenges, the CRM industry is alive and kicking with increased sales and market penetration, moderate investment levels, and increasing M&A activity. The CRM industry, plagued by expensive customization and integration, a prolonged and difficult to prove ROI, and the on-going challenge associated with merging customer data from multiple interaction channels, was feared to suffer and dry up in light of harsh market conditions and retrenchment in IT spending.
