It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown (1966)

Charlie Brown and the gang are getting ready to celebrate Halloween. Linus writes a letter to the Great Pumpkin even though everyone tries to tell him that the Great Pumpkin does not exist. In the meantime, Charlie Brown is excited that he’s invited to Violet’s Halloween party, but Lucy tells him there are two lists, people to invite and people not to invite, and that his name was on the wrong list. Before going trick-or-treating on Halloween, the group stops by the pumpkin patch to make fun of Linus for waiting for the Great Pumpkin. Sally decides to stay with him. Snoopy travels back in time to World War I to battle Manfred von Richtofen. When he is shot down, he crashes the Halloween party and unknowingly makes his way to the pumpkin patch, creating a ruckus and rising above the pumpkins. Linus believes he’s seeing the Great Pumpkin. Linus faints and Sally realizes it’s Snoopy and is angry that she missed out on trick-or treats and the Halloween party. The next day, Charlie Brown and Linus discuss the previous night’s events, and Linus vows that the Great Pumpkin will come next year.

Hocus Pocus (1993)

In 1693, the Sanderson sisters bewitched the children of Salem and were executed for witchcraft. Their last spell was turning Zachary Binx into a black cat.  Binx, who tried to save his younger sister Emily, will live on forever with his guilt for not saving her. Before their deaths, the sisters – Winifred, Sarah and Mary – recite a curse in the spell book, vowing to return when the Black Flame candle is lit. Flash forward to 1993 and it’s Halloween. Max Dennison breaks into the witches’ home (now an abandoned museum) and lights the candle that brings the sisters to back to life. In order to stay alive, the sisters must steal the “life force” of children. Max, his crush Alison and his younger sister Dani must save the kids in Salem from the witches. With the help of Binx the talking cat, they have an action-filled night complete with Winifred’s ex-boyfriend (now a Zombie) and a musical number that will put a spell on you. Can Binx and the three save the children and reunite Binx with his sister?

Casper (1995)

Carrigan Crittenden is upset that her deceased father’s will only leaves her an old house, Whipstaff Manor, until she discovers there’s a hidden treasure in it. Upon visiting the house, she and her lawyer Dibs encounter the four ghosts who haunt the Manor. After an unsuccessful exorcism, a visit from a ghostbuster who gets scared (a cameo by the original Ghostbuster, Ray Stantz!) and failed demolition, ghost hunter Dr. Harvey is called. Along with his daughter Kit, the two set out to the Manor. There, Katquickly befriends the friendly ghost Casper who shows her the secret machine, Lazarus, which was built by Casper’s father in an attempt to bring him back to life. Carrigan and Dibs follow. They learn about the machine and its secret potion and steal the potion in hopes of using it to aid them in bank robberies. Fortunately, Casper and Kat get the potion back – do they use it to bring Casper back to life?
