Computer Aided Selling

Tech.Sell

Dear Reader,

My first experience using computers to sell smarter was back over 17 years ago. I had merged my consulting firm (14+ FTE) with a mid-sized CPA firm in Chicago. My new role was to focus on the Rainmaking (Business Development) functions instead of trying to do everything for everyone (I was putting in 80+ hour weeks).

One of the first things I did was to acquire a contact management software system (pre-cursor to Customer Relationship Management - CRM) and began diligently using it to manage my contacts, calendar and selling activities. I wanted to finally “Practice What I Preached” (I had been in the computer industry for 9 years and never automated my own selling). I was amazed that my sales doubled in the first 18 months while cutting my time working down to 40 hour a week.

What’s the morale of the story?

My success was based upon establishing the disciplines and processes needed to maximize my selling effectiveness and than using technology to streamline those new processes. The “Tool” used was the least important factor (obviously the software I used back than has long been obsolete and replaced several times).

Technology automates processes. Period – that’s it. Automating inefficient processes only costs money – little payback from speeding up inefficiency.  To get the payback promised from any technology – and this is especially true of CRM – you need to use it to automate efficient processes (and have the disciplines to follow those enhanced processes).

How’s this relate to Tech.Sell?

Tech.Sell is a Rainmakers Strategic Partner that specializes in helping mid-market businesses (read lean & mean) use CRM technology to Sell More in Less Time.

Tech.Sell can help your sales team manage more deals, improve organization and follow up, target and communicate faster, follow an efficient sales process, replicate best practices, make better presentations and measure performance continuously.

They have established computer-aided tools like the Selling Machine to help you develop effective selling processes and apply technology to streamline those processes. That’s how you get payback from CRM investments!

Rainmakers refers clients to Tech.Sell when hands-on assistance is needed to develop and implement improved selling processes and apply low-cost CRM systems (from Goldmine or Salesnet) to get measurable results.
