Our Client

Wil Henry, IT Manager at Jel Sert, a leading provider of powdered beverages, desserts and snack foods. Founded in 1926, the company’s well-known brands include Royal, Wylers and Flavor-Aid. Jel Sert is located in West Chicago, Illinois. 

The Technical Setting

Jel Sert operates with MFG/PRO, a Progress-based ERP system and an internal workstation network. They also maintain a website for consumer information and communications.


The Client Concern


A growing business, Jel Sert wanted a company with proven Progress-based expertise – but needed more. According to Wil Henry, Jel Sert’s IT Manager, the company intentionally runs lean on internal IT staff and looks for partners who are willing to understand Jel Sert’s business and flexible enough to adapt to fluctuations in workload. 

  The Mercury Approach

After working with Jel Sert on a few small projects, Mercury Principal Bob Kaput saw the possibility of a simple, but flexible partnership. To maintain quality and continuity, he offered to assemble a team of top-notch Mercury Progress consultants. By orienting them to Jel Sert’s systems, and regularly keeping them up to date on the company’s business priorities, each could step in on an “as needed” basis.  He suggested regular meetings to assess workload and discuss progress as well as additional ideas for improvements.
