QuantaCAD for PDMS Released

Integration of 3D Laser Models with PDMS Enables Faster Designs and Less Rework

Quantapoint 3D Laser Model and AVEVA PDMS ModelAccording to Roel Tang, Senior Design Engineer at Viro Engineering, "By providing access to complete and photo-realistic 3D laser models within PDMS, designers can eliminate remodeling of existing facilities, visualize proposed changes for design and construction reviews, and clash-check the PDMS models against actual field conditions to identify interferences - all of which reduce project time and rework."  Added Erik de Jonge, PDMS Application Engineer at Viro, "QuantaCAD also eliminates the time and confusion of searching for laser data by enabling users to load 3D laser models around existing PDMS models.  This and the 90% smaller size of 3D laser models makes QuantaCAD easy to use and manage."

Quantapoint is marking its 15th anniversary of helping companies improve business results and meet their project goals.  Quantapoint’s as-built laser documentation™ helps clients reduce risk and improve performance by providing more complete information for project and business decisions.

According to Eric Hoffman, CEO, "Quantapoint has always been an industry leader and innovator.  Our 15th anniversary year will continue this trend with even more innovations, such as the upcoming Mark VI 3D laser measurement technology, which will enable us to significantly enhance our as-built documentation service offering, and the integration of our 3D laser models with 3D CAD programs from Intergraph and AVEVA.  We will continue to grow by expanding both domestically and internationally and focusing on the value laser documentation can offer to existing facilities as part of a broader asset management strategy."

Originally named K2T, Quantapoint has demonstrated significant growth, having successfully completed more than 700 successful existing condition or "as-built" documentation projects both within the U.S. and around the world.  This includes projects of all sizes in more than 130 educational facilities, 70 offshore platforms, 60 religious structures, 50 refineries, 40 process/power facilities and 30 government buildings.  Quantapoint’s customer focus has resulted in very high ratings for customer satisfaction and a number of awards, which most recently include the Communicator Award and Pittsburgh 100 Fastest Growing Companies.

Quantapoint has also led the way in innovation for existing condition measurement technology, such as creating the first commercially-available 360° phase-based laser scanner, the first software for displaying and extracting dimensional information from photo-realistic laser scan images, and the first technology for integrating laser scan data into interactive 3D laser models™.  This has led to a number of awards, including the Pittsburgh Technology 50, Discover Magazine Innovation Award Finalist and most recently an R&D Magazine 100 Most Innovative Products of the Year.
